In April there was a grand party in the Loire Valley to commemorate the recognition of Les Bordes, France being rated the #1 golf course in all of Europe* and to celebrate Robert von Hagge's birthday, who along with Senior Architect/ Partner Rick Baril were the design force behind the design of this prestigious landmark course.

Les Bordes was designed for the late Baron Marcel Bich, founder of the Bic empire, and his Japanese trading partner, Mr. Yoshiaki Sakurai. Since its official opening in 1987, we have received an unprecedented number of awards for this exquisitely maintained, exhilarating course. Playing Les Bordes will provide a challenge to any golfer (the record for the course is a single stroke under par) as well as an experience to treasure a lifetime.

Stillwater Golf Club at Mystic Ridge

Franklin, Tennessee

Once again we've teamed up with developers/builders D. J. Keehan, Scott Scheel and Nick Rossi from Cleveland, Ohio. This time we have ventured into the heart of the country music world, Nashville, Tennessee. The 600-acre property is actually located in the rolling countryside of Franklin about 20 minutes south of Nashville. The rolling hills and dramatic ravines are ideally suited for the creation of a great golf course. Mature forests punctuated with occasional meadows offers beautiful vistas to the surrounding farms and ranches. The large, southern plantation style home at the top of the hill, previously owned by country music legend Tanya Tucker, will be renovated to serve as the clubhouse and will have a commanding view of the entire community.

Upon completion, the 18-hole golf course and practice academy will meander though a 475-unit subdivision of upscale single-family residences. Stillwater broke ground in July and the golf course is expected to be open by fall of 2009.

El Molino Golf and Country Club

Leon, Guanajuato

Construction on El Molino Golf and Country Club in Leon, Guanajuato,Mexico is fully underway. We were blessed with a physically magnificent and unique parcel of land. Located in the geographic center of the country, the course is being developed in a beautiful valley where remnants of the pre-Classic Toltecas, Chichimecas and Guamares tribes are a stark contrast to the modern architecture in this city of constant progress. The companion residential development will overview the entire 18 holes from parallel hillsides separated only by the valley golf course.

With this project, we had the pleasure of bringing together two former clients who joined forces to become the development entity. We were previously involved with Sr. Alvaro, Leano a partner in El Campanario and Isla Navidad projects, and Sr. Mauro Garza, a partner in Las Misiones and the famous Tres Vidas Resort and Club.

Stensballegaard Golf Course

Horsens, Denmark

Stensballegaard is an old mansion from 1692, and has since 1928 been in the possession of the noble family Ahlefeldt- Laurvig, who are the founders and owners of the golf course and club.

In April 2007 construction of the 27-hole course and 6- hole par 3 practice course began. Despite the challenge of tough Scandinavian winters, construction has been progressing on schedule. The first 18-hole course, along with the clubhouse and practice facility, are expected to open in spring 2009.

We are excited about the overall course design and believe that Stensballegaard will one day become one of Denmark's, if not Europe's, best golf courses.

Sonoma Golf Club

Monterrey, Mexico
9-Hole Executive

Just south of the city center, in one of Monterrey's picturesque valleys, we've agreed to create a 9-hole Executive golf course for former client Sr. Alberto Santos (Tres Vidas and La Misiones ). The unique 29 par course (seven par 3's and two par 4's) will be surrounded by five upscale high-rise condominiums promising fantastic views of the valley holes.
