El Paraiso Golf Club

Construction has recently commenced on the 18-hole golf course for El Paraiso Golf Club. The new residential country club development is located in Barra del Tordo, Tamaulipas, about an hour drive north of the Gulf Coast City of Tampico. This project was awarded by Grupo GMP, under Gabriel Maldanado Pumarejo, Director General. The property consists of rolling, strongly vegetated terrain and is blessed with numerous hardwood trees. The pristine San Rafael River surrounds three sides of the property and El Paraiso is only ten minutes from one of Mexico's most beautiful unspoiled gulf coast beaches. The property was meant to have a golf course because the natural terrain has all the variables and desirable opportunities necessary to create a world-class presentation.

The community of Madrid staged a competition among international golf architects and Spanish development companies to create a golf facility with the intention to permanently host the Madrid Open and provide public golf in theMadrid region. Along with Desprosa S.A., a real estate development company and owner of the successful Club de Golf Olivar de la Hinojosa, located in Madrid, we submitted elaborate plans to provide an 18-hole tournament course, along with an 18-hole regulation golf course.We are happy to announce that we were awarded the design and development for this ambitious project. As Desprosa/von Hagge, Smelek and Baril we are honored to be commissioned to work within this region of rich history and academic notoriety.
