RSHECC
Open de Madrid Valle Romano 2007
Real Sociedad Hipica Espanola Club de Campo (RSHECC) played host to the European Tour October 11-14.
Many people confuse RSHECC with the old "Club de Campo", which has been in existence and located in the central of Madrid since 1901. In fact, vHS&B was commissioned to design the "new" RSHECC North of Madrid in 1991.
This is a typical report about the golf course: "Real Sociedad Hipica Espanola Club de Campo was built in 1901, attained Royal status in 1908 and was one of the founder members of the Spanish Golf Federation in 1932. Designed by renowned vonHagge, Smelek and Baril, the course is naturally undulating with the changes of elevation sure to challenge the field."
The land lease for the original golf course was set to expire and a new venue was needed for the more than 5,000 members. Land was found in "Valle Romano" (Roman Valley) located approximately 20km North of downtown Madrid. We were commissioned to design 36 challenging golf holes for a large membership of varied experience. The club membership (and price) has grown significantly over the years and RSHECC is well recognized golf success story. We are very proud of our ongoing relationship with RSHECC. With luck, we'll be around if the club decides to move again, in a 100 years or so.....
